RE: Help with Claustrophobia

Try some kind of night light at the opposite end of the camper to keep every bit of space available slightly illuminated. This gives you a psychological cue that although the space you're sleeping in is confined, there is still some "openness" available around you. See if installing any mirrors in your lines of sight while sleeping might help
In addition to keeping the windows open and a flow of air whenever possible, keep any blinds or shades raised, maximize the open glass area as much as possible. Sleep facing the window if you can.
Try sleeping with the furnace up higher, keep it warm in the camper so you don't need a heavy blanket on you while sleeping, if you're not covered while sleeping you may feel less confined.
Weather permitting leave the camper door open and only use the screen door.
Look into meditation and relaxation techniques.
I second the idea of a mirror or two. Mirrors have a way of making spaces appear bigger than they are.

RE: Gas Detector chirping after installing memory foam pad.

If you have any kids have them enjoy wrestling on it for an hour. Run a fan to get rid of the smell. It will take a couple of days.
I wasn't kidding about this. We bought a Tempur-Pedic for the house and one for the RV. They recommended we put it on the floor and walk on it.
No I don't have any kids but walking on it sounds like another option.

RE: Draining fresh water tank on Lance is incredibly slow

Yes I have. I've replaced 2. 1 under warranty ( Shur-Flo )and 1 due to my own stupidity (Flotec):S (yes they will freeze and crack at 29 degrees.) replaced it with a Shur-Flo.
I have not had to replace the one in my TC but was relieved to see it is really easy to get to.

RE: Draining fresh water tank on Lance is incredibly slow

My lance 815 will drain in about 1 hour from 3/4 full. Of course I have a smaller fresh water tank. I agree. There's restriction somewhere.
I'm not a big fan of running the pump just to empty the tank. It puts unnecessary wear and tear on it. IMHO

RE: Gas Detector chirping after installing memory foam pad.

Vinegar eh???? :h Who would have thought. Since it is supposed to be stormy here the next few days and sunning it is not really an option, I'll give this a try. I was pretty sure someone here would have some options.

RE: Gas Detector chirping after installing memory foam pad.

3" Queen. It's all memory foam near as I can tell. I don't see where anything is bonded to it. I got it off ebay for 139.00 w/ free shipping but I noticed Sams now has them at 129.00. Funny how the price went down after I bought on line. Oh well. Thats the way it goes some time.

Gas Detector chirping after installing memory foam pad.

Chirps about ever 60 seconds.
After removing the pad and running the power fan for a few minutes the chirping will stop. Anyone have an idea on how to quickly "Air out" a memory foam mattress pad.

RE: LANCE 815 ON F250 SHORTBED FX4 - NEED AIR BAGS?

When I first got my 815, my F250 4x4 was stock. It did sag a bit much for my taste but it was not anywhere near bottomed out. I went with Timbrens and Rancho 9000s. Made all the difference. The ride is fine without the camper. I notice the Timbrens with heavy pot holes or when off roading in rough areas but not on the highway. My biggest problem is remembering to "dial down" the ranchos when unloaded.

RE: fishing and mushrooms

Funny this topic should come up. A few weeks ago we had a good shower (I wouldn't call it an electrical storm) come though and the next day I had a ton of the white button cap mushrooms come up under the oak trees in my back yard. Since I love mushrooms of all types, I was thinking about a nice big harvest. I have see squirrels enjoying these white beauties and thought they were safe BUT!!! NO I did not pick em. I got on line and did a little research and come across many articles on the suject of safe mushrooms for humans. I had heard of the tell of boiling mushrooms with the silver coin, spoon, etc. That was quickly debunked. I decided it was best to buy mushrooms. It would seem like an interesting hobby but I would need to do a lot more research before I would actually eat one I had picked.
This is an interesting read. Or I thought so anyway.

RE: Truck camper stability off the truck

I camp with my Lance off the truck all the time. No problem what so ever. As mentioned before, let the jacks down as far as you can. I once had to setup on very unlevel ground once and had to have it off the ground quite a bit to get it level. It shook a little but not too bad. I never felt like it would tip and I'm pretty in tune to stuff like that.

RE: New to me Lance 815!! First Truck camper.

I installed the short bed mods on my 815. It was a snap and took me about an hour. Would have been quicker but the holes for the wiring was not predrilled. Everything else was. After cutting the wiring holes it was just 4 bolts each side. Line up, tighten up, plug em in, chalk the seams, done. Really like them. The extra storage is always useful. IMO, the "folding bunk" above the table is not strong enough to be used as a bed and I certainly would not put a kid up there. It is nice to be able to open it to put larger items in the storage space.

RE: Camper is too long

Sorry, I should have stated how much I'll be towing. Usually no more than 9000, but if I tow Dad's race car, it could get up to 14,000. Will that tow beast handle that?
Tongue weight is the issue here.

RE: Camper is too long

See what happens when I get a "great deal"? I've been looking for an older 9'ish so I can still easily tow my equipment trailer. I thought I was on to something when the trailer manufacturer said I can extend the tongue on the trailer a couple feet. Well that works great turning but I'd better never leave Kansas.
I guess I need some sort of extended hitch. What works best for the money? I need at least 24". I was told I'd be spending about $1300 with install.
Check out Northern tools. I bought mine there and it has worked fine. Keep in mind that when you extend, you lose tounge weight capacity.
Sorry for the double post but there was an error when posting.

RE: Battery (dual or single)

If you parallel two you will get twice the capacity. The best in my opinion is optima. I'm sure others have opinions on this but it will really depend on how much you are willing to spend.

RE: TC'ers and Music

Never been to a festival but it is not uncommon to see a bunch of us sitting around Friday night before a cook off with our guitars. Usually have a pretty big crowd around. We play anything from Acuff to Skynard. It is a blast. Way more entertaining than a blasting stereo :E any day.

RE: Power to Stereo/CD Player

Another thought is how much power does the "always powered" circuit draw to keep settings in memory?
John
It would depend on the unit but it draws very little power. I would say even less than the various detectors in your camper. I installed one in my 815 and as mentioned previously, I put a switch in the circuit. It stays off when I'm not using it.

RE: Tight fit on Lance

Thanks for the idea, it worked perfectly.
There's been no problem about a stable condition since I only added just enought spacers to clear the front tie downs. As the picture shows spacers are placed between the jack and the camper attachment.
I'd use two strips of 1/4 inch aliumum

These have been in place for several months
Paint damage before spacer were in place

No need to be an expert on the moon and fullness, just check the calendar.
As to being embarrassed about comments, it is just gallows humor, like whistling walking past a graveyard. We all take comfort it is not ours. When all else fails, you just have to chuckle.
Other than that Mrs Kennedy, how was the parade?
